Watch On Demand

Your patient’s health is a top priority, but what about yours?

More than 80% of surgical residents experienced pain after long operating cases, according to a poster study at Yale Medical School, but fewer than 20% sought medical treatment for it. What’s more, in a study published in the Journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, 97% of residents and attendings said they experience musculoskeletal pain during surgery and 83% reported a lack of education in posture and ergonomics.

In this webinar, Philip Chen, MD, FARS, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, will share some simple changes you can make to help alleviate neck, shoulder, and back strain during surgery.

Dr. Chen will discuss his insight on:

    • Postures associated with pain when performing surgery
    • The maximum flex of neck and degree of rotation to prevent strain
    • Which equipment you can use to avoid reaching too far and which should be used only as a last resort
